When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor.
It’s to enjoy each step along the way.
Kathy Dellanno along with her daughters Nicolette, Sophia and Ashley Mangan are the founders of Your Chance to Dance. Sharing an affinity with dance, Nicolette, Sophia and Ashley have been dancing since they were three. They believe intense training, discipline, dedication endured will be beneficial in aspects of life. They’ve practiced and studied many different styles of dance, have auditioned and been a part of many musicals and dance showcases. They currently dance an average of 10 to 12 hours a week and have been dancing competitively since 2013.
Realizing the commitment and benefits dance has brought to their lives. they also understand it comes with an expense. The idea for Your Chance to Dance was sparked a few years ago when the three girls were attending a ballet class. A fellow classmate was not in class that evening. The teacher made an announcement at the end of the class asking if anyone had found their friend’s ballet slippers. She also stated that the young girl that was not in class that evening would not be returning to class until her ballet slippers were found. Buying a new pair of ballet slippers was not in her parents’ budget. Paying for classes and for dance attire can be a luxury many of us do not have.
The girls look forward to volunteer their time teaching and giving an opportunity for kids to experience the joy of dance.
